This scholarship would be awarded to one eighth grade graduate each year. The initial award would be $300. Each year the student maintains an A/B average in high school, the scholarship amount would increase by $100. If the student maintains an A/B average all four years of high school, the student would earn a bonus $300 totaling $1,000. This scholarship would be paid upon the student's enrollment in a post-secondary education school directly to that chosen school.
The scholarship will be based on a point system design to encourage not only academic success but student participation in a variety of activities. It also allows for parental participation to encourage parents to get involved in their child's school.

The goal of a scholarship is to get both student and parent involved in Coupland and keep them in Coupland through the 8th grade. This plan allows all students to have a chance in the scholarship. Students shouldn't feel like they "don't have a chance because of low grades."

To promote and encourage "ownership" of this scholarship to the student as well as promoting responsibility, the student will be required to keep track of some of their points. They will have a form to tally points for grades, attendance, UIL participation, team participation, student council participation, and volunteer work. Meanwhile PTC would be keeping track of other points such as parental participation, UIL awards, and demerits.

In the event of a tie, PTC will create a committee of 7 persons. These people could include the core class teachers, the principle, the librarian, PE coach, or office staff. In no event will it include a parent of any child being voted on. The committee would vote for the recipient.

The year the program begins, points will be totalled for 6th, 7th, 8th grades. 8th grade will graduate with a one year total, 7th with a two year total, and all classes there after will have a three year total.

Accommodations need to be in place for students who are not enrolled in 6th or 7th grades. By averaging the points per year the student has been in attendance, we would make the scholarship fair for new students.

PTC would put $1000 in a 4 year CD each year the scholarship is awarded. At the end of the 4 years, they will write a check up to $1000 to the post secondary school of the scholarship winner's choice upon the winners's enrollment. The full amount will be determined and the remaining funds of the CD will be put back into the PTC bank account.
